I've been in contact with a company in The Woodlands and will most likely accept the job if offered. My family will stay here in Louisiana and I'll move there by myself. Any ideas on affordable housing? I will not be getting per diem with this company, and I don't want to get into paying for housing in both.

Any of you used roommate.com? If so, how did it end up?

TIA

Not at all. We just don't want to pull them out of school in the middle of the year.

The Woodlands is one of the best places in the country to raise a family. Bring them with you.

if they understand situation and are not willing to help, then I would not want to work for that company

Man I'd like that setup. It's like you have an unlimited kitchen pass with plenty of tail to run through in the woodlands.

I wouldn't let this situation stop you from moving. Wouldn't not move because of the pulling them out of school. It's an unbelievable place to raise a kid. There are parks everywhere. Schools are top notch. If there's even a rumor of crime, people flip their shite and demand better from the community. Especially with a job in the community, that would be awesome. My wife works inside the woodlands and hasn't driven on the interstate in almost a year. Everything you need is here.

Did what you are contemplating, housing ain't cheap here. I tried to find the roommate situation but never did. Lots of stuff on Craig's list. But no situation I fel comfortable with. Finally bit the bullet and rented a place at outrageous prices. 1200 for a one bedroom
The closer to the woodlands you are the more amenities you will have and the more expensive it will be. If it's just for you to get to the summer, then go ahead and rent. Look at Conroe or down toward 1960 for less expense. But if you want your family to come and spend time with you at any point. Then just rent I /around the woodlands

Check in the Magnolia area or in The Woodlands closers to 2978/1488. Lots of new apartments that can't be all that expensive. There are like 6 houses for sale and a few for rent around me. There's no way the market is tight right now.

The Woodlands is great. Move your whole family here, you won't regret it.

Use HAR.com to look at rental property. I don't know what your budget is, but there are some cheaper options available.

If price is the name issue, don't live in the woodlands. Plenty of cheap housing within a short drive

Check greenspoint, 15-20 minute commute and rock bottom rent prices.

Tons of new apartments in The Woodlands, Magnolia & Spring. Just follow the guys twirling signs to the ones offering 2 months free. I did the same as you, came here 9 months before the fam and drove home every other week. Definitely worth it. No plans to move back, except there is only one good seafood restaurant in Market Street.
