Isn't it curious how it all roughly points to the same time period though?
It would be if this was true, but they don't.
Most flood myths take place at many different times

there was a day when the Atlantic broke through & filled the Mediterranean basin.
Imagine all the settlements, tribes, etc that heard the roar of a mountain of ocean water pouring through the straits…
Pouring from which direction? From the Atlantic in the Mediterranean? Or from the Mediterranean through to the Atlantic?
Maybe the Mediterranean already an existing sea on that awesome day as Noah's Great Flood burst forth at Gibraltar and began draining back into the Atlantic.

Plato asserted that Atlantis was raised and built by Poseidon and ruled by the sons of atlas. You good with that? That’s the atlas that carried the planet around on his shoulders BTW
and then when the society there became immortal and greedy, Poseidon sank it in 3 days.
it’s an allegory FFS…a work of fictional literature

And I can’t ignore the fact that Tolkien worked in the ‘seven circles’ concept surrounding a shining city of Minas Tirith, of Gondor . While they are not seafaring themselves, put up against a mountain range, they are the descendants of an actual Atlantis type destruction of Numenor .

Ocean water, indicating the Atlantic filled the Mediterranean basin.

I met her in Six Flags.
My friends were super jealous

At one time I'd considered it pure myth and impossible.
Now?
I believe its very plausible to speculate that ALL of our past "myths" about "The gods" and "Titans" (like 'Poseidon') and his sons' Atlantean bequeathing of their own Kingdoms may have been true all along.
Imo Plato's account is too detailed to be fabricated by over-imagination.
Who were "the gods"? (Or Titans of myth?) Fallen Angels and their off-spring, the Nephilim Giants.

Obvious embellishment or maybe even a possible later fabrication of the original story to taint it.

Again, I'd speculate that more embellishment and/or possible discrediting or defacing of the original account of Plato may be afoot.

So say the Keepers and Re-Tellers of "History". The Great Flood is also claimed by many to be "fictional" by many of the same people. (Who can't be trusted to tell the truth from yesterday -- even though we lived and witnessed it.)

Wasn't aware of any of this. Very interesting. And coincidentally and strangely similar to Plato's descriptions.

Other than Plato's supposed account, I wonder if there's a record it?
The story was passed along by the Athenian lawmaker, Solon. Solon was said to have learned of it from Egyptian priests in the city of Sais around 590 BC.
Pluto was the first to write about it.

Calling Plato Pluto is a perfect fit for all of this fantasy archeological foolishness.

“plausible, possible, speculation” is doing quite a bit of heavy lifting in that post. Let’s try it another way…plato’s account is the only direct evidence available to us with regard to the story of Atlantis. Do you traffic in evidentiary matters or speculative matters?
Because on the one hand you assert that one thing “could” be true, but on another you say that Plato’s story is “too detailed” to be fiction…
I’d be interested in your opinion of other literary works too detailed to be fiction. Y’all mentioned Tolkien, very detailed…exhaustively so. That makes it non fiction?

Yep. I still look forward to when we get actual news of ‘made in Atlantis’ is found stamped on some crazy clock machine or wild armor.

It’s called post-glacial isostatic rebound combined with eustatic sea-level rise.Do you not know about Hulagu Khan burning and destroying the House of Wisdom in Baghdad? Are you retarded or just not well read?

Yeah none of that shite ever happened.
I mean, I love to read about it and even watch a documentary on it but I hope no one is falling for that stuff.

“Atlantis” is the Donovan song that was playing in the background of the scene in Goodfellas when Tommy De and Jimmy the Gent put the beat down on Billy Batts in Henry’s bar;
