I keep seeing this incident called "a gang shootout." Fascinating....seems like the first gang shootout in history where the people who got hit were some kids from a private school an hour away in Laffy.

This is where I’m at. The lady working the carousel said the thug POS was firing in a circle indiscriminately at the crowd, not at a rival gang. As bad a shot as these thugs are, you would think ONE would have been hit. I’d love to see the footage. I’m worried this was some initiation to kill innocents.

BATON ROUGE — One day after the Metro Council approved Mayor-President Sid Edwards’ plan to give Baton Rouge Police a historic pay raise, District Attorney Hillar Moore filed a lawsuit seeking to compel the city-parish to fund his office at a level he says is required by the state constitution. In the suit, Moore says funding for 2026 “will soon be exhausted,” which he argues will result in “irreparable harm to the safety and welfare of the people the District Attorney is elected to serve.” “I have exhausted all other avenues to obtain necessary funding to fight crime and fulfill the duties I swore to fulfill when I took the oath of office,” Moore said in a news release after the suit was filed.
quote:

Moore said a shortage of prosecutors, like a shortage of police officers, creates a public safety risk. “Without enough prosecutors, the criminal cases we charge are simply not able to move quickly through the courts. Cases stall. Criminals are out on bond and possibly commit other crimes,” he said. “It is not a situation our citizens should tolerate. Further, the additional funds will allow us to implement programs which prioritize prevention and diversion.” More than 170 murder cases are currently pending in East Baton Rouge Parish, slowed in part by limited staffing in the district attorney’s office.

He's not bright, and he spent much of his life coaching in the ghetto. He's too soft for this shite.

The alternative was another term of Sharon Weston Broome. The only way a Republican even has a shot of being elected as Mayor is to have a connection with NBR. No other Republican would’ve even come close.

He should prosecute criminals. Not provide prevention and diversion for them.

See this is the mindset he has and why he is not right type of person to be DA. Out of his own mouth.

But we are stuck with him another 6 years. The blacks love him though so it’s all good.

There's not much you can do to prevent this. It's ingrained into ghetto culture, even celebrated. All you can do is build more prisons and hand out harsh sentences. That would work too if we had the balls to do it.

Elon Musk just reposted Landry’s presser. This is going to gain national attention. Good.

Yup. I’ve seen the hardest core criminals cry like bitches for a deal when jury selection starts. It’s the only thing that works. Jail for long periods of time.

I didn't vote for Landry, but he's 100% correct with that statement.

Awful. The poor family of that girl.....instead of preparing to share the joy of the beginning of a new chapter in her life..........they must make preparations for her funeral.

I mourn her passing........I really do.

Prayers for the repose of her soul and for consolation and healing for her family.

Moore is far from perfect but he’s been beating this drum for a while and it’s unadulterated truth. He doesn’t have the required budget to hire enough ADAs and prosecute. That leads to bad deals and forgotten defendants who will for a myriad of reasons outside the DAs ability .. walk. these guys getting deals and on bail are committing the vast majority of crimes.

The mayor now and before have failed in securing the funds, they are afraid to call out the BS budgets of so many departments and offer fledgling attempts akin to Thrive in attempts to pacify to many instead of making the hard calls.

Not exactly bright lights, big city excitement, but should be getting more attention.

I’d be curious to know the age distribution of arrests made in EBR.

What percentage of crime (both violent and property) is committed by minors? And what are the recidivism rates for juvenile offenders?

People don’t go straight from innocent kids to shooting at each other in the mall. How many of these 17-18 year olds getting into gunfights have already been smashing windows for years without real consequences?

And then, the kid who brought the gun to Istrouma wasn’t even a minor. He was 18. Like.. I get that it’s sad to throw away someone’s life at 18. I understand why you would hope they can change their ways. But someone bringing a stolen, illegally-modified handgun to their high school is beyond redemption. Sorry, it’s already too late for them. Maybe if you punish them severely enough, it’ll deter the next kid from throwing their life away too.

I am sure Elon's connection to South Africa makes him extra sensitive to the Black White divide.

It will definitely be good to get National eyes on this.
