I was a Porsche brand specialist
(salesrep) 2008-2014.

Go to your local Porsche dealer next time it rains and ask to test drive a 911.
They will tell you to come back when it dries out.

Even the 4 wheel drive option was still dicey on wet pavement .

I think it is likely the mid engine Cayman S is a better driving car, but you will have to give up the 911's expansive rear seat

It's German, and Germans aren't going to bother putting letters in that they're not going to pronounce. "e" in German has an "eh" sound.

I still think these companies are going to have to walk back a lot of these plans due to demand especially in the US.

Afraid the 911, as we know it, is on borrowed time. Along with a lot of combustion engine autos. Porsche CEO - “In 2030, we want to deliver around 80 percent of our vehicles with an electric drive – either as a hybrid or fully electric.” That’s only 8 years away!

You are making some assumptions that I’m not sure hold up. Current 911 sales only makeup about 15% of Porsche sales. If Porsche plans on 80% electric sales a gas powered 911 is still viable for the other 20%. The crux is Porsche has historically been reluctant to have non-911 vehicles outperform the 911. Certainly electric Porsches will be faster to 60 than the 911. Just look at what the Taycan Can do.

They’ve been a technology company for 30+ years. Porsche Design is responsible for a lot of tech. Some they put their name on some they don’t.

Who knew we had so many experts on German diction in this place?

It’s simple really.

Macan, Cayenne and Taycan will be electric.

Cayman/boxster will probably become a hybrid.

Then there will be the ICE 911 with a possible hybrid offered.

Exactly my thinking. The 911 could remain gas and have different models offering different power trains. A electric GT3 is probably on the horizon.

That’s gonna be a helluva lot more expensive in an aircooled car lol.

Also the first 2 generations of GT cars (other than the ultra limited 993 GT) had the bulletproof mezger GT1. One of the most reliable engines ever to come out of germany.

I think he is hung up on Gumbo Pot's use or poor vs por or pore. Pore, poor, and pour are homophones but in the South you often hear poor pronounced with a U sound which Porsche does not have. Atlanta, Stuttgart, and every dealer I have ever dealt with say it the same way. I think Gumbo Pot was just clarifying it is not one syllable that I used to hear much more than I do now, which I bet has something to do with the fact there are far more Porsche commercials on TV than 30 years ago.

The one you do not want to tackle is Hyundai. The Koreans gave up and just let 'Mericans say it the way we want and Hyundai US corporate just goes with the flow. Another bad one is Jaguar, I had a neighbor* own one for 5 years and never could coach her to pronounce it "properly" but she did try... but made it worse.

* I begged her not to buy a Jag, she didn't listen and felt the pain for all those years and determined not to buy another one bought a... Land Rover, pre Tata no less. I just shook my head.

I notice they didn't move their NA HQ to Ohio. Wonder why?

Must really like doing business with all these "hicks" ALONG with the MCB...who also moved their NA HQ here.

BTW,haven't talk to many Germans here but every other employee who I do business with drops the e...I can understand em just fine.

ETA.All your grads who flock to Atlanta are welcome to leave this place any time they want.

The worst

What’s gonna be a real shame is when Porsche makes it so you HAVE to buy the gt3 to get ice only
