Apologies in advance to pool owners, but just reading the thread title reminded me how happy I am to not have to deal with those time and money pits anymore.

You been running it without enough water? Because that will wreck the bearings.
And also they tend to just die after 6-7 years anyways.

My only tip for you is to take a picture or two of all the wiring before you take it apart ti make it easier to wire up the new one.
This. I'm a novice but I replaced one fairly easily, but had to take pictures first.
This thread reminded me to turn my pump timer down to just 6-7 hours per day. We turned it up because of all that crazy weather and debris that wrecked the water quality a few weeks back.

Bonus comment:
Hurricane prep - get a cover or tarp or something.
After Ida the pool looked like the surface of the moon with all the shite in there, then settled to look like some weird landscape. Stayed up till 4 am scooping out a huge trash can chock full of debris.

This happened to me before. If it's running load you will need a new motor usually about $800.00. If your gone more than a week and the pool stops running you should be ok. Make sure the water level is high before you leave.

Yeah pools can be a lot of work.
With all this rain I’ve been constantly cleaning fighting the algae.

Thanks for all the replies. Found a motor local. Changed it and the timer in about 90min. Pretty straight forward.
