I worked the Midway at Pontchartrain Beach one summer in one of the game booths. Back then I was making a whopping $1.25 and hour in 1965 and working from the time they opened in the morning until they closed at night.
The Zephyr and Wild Maus were my two favorite rides with the Wild Maus being the scarier of the two with it's sharp turns feeling like you were getting ready to zoom off into the parking lot.

I recently learned the baseball team was not named after the roller coaster.

No but I rode the wild mouse. I think they moved it to Fun Fair Park after Pontchartrain Beach shut down.
Fun Fair Park had a Wild Mouse while Pontchartrain Beach was still open. Not sure where it came from though.
Fun Fair Park did bring a roller coaster to their park after Pontchartrain closed. Called it the Galaxy, not sure if that was the same name at Pontchartrain or not.
You can still see this coaster at Blue Bayou. It's on the side facing I-10. Unfortunately someone lost their life on it a few years ago.

That damn thing used to lock up leaving people just sitting above the river for long lengths of time. Screw that. I rode the ferris wheel instead.
Went late one night and it was too windy for the gondola to operate, so we rode the Ferris wheel. There was a young couple and their young child in the car with us, and on the way up the women said “I don’t know who y’all are, but if anyone rocks this car, I will kill them.” It was pretty scary when we stopped at the top so they could load the opposite side and you could feel the wheel sway back and forth. The view was pretty nice.

For my first date as a 15 year old sophomore I asked out and took a senior girl to Pontchartrain Beach. I was the kicker on the football team and it was the start of a long career of out-kicking my coverage both on and off the field.

Yes indeed, far to many times with the girlfriends at the time.
The world’s fair gondola over the River was the best. We would take the kids to the fair for a few hours & take the trip over to drop them with the grandparents & return for a little “adult” entertainment.

The top of the Zephyr and the entrance to the Bali Hai is located at Kenner City Hall Park.

So did I. Kinda surprised I lived.
Wild Maus was terrifying.
Wonder how often those rides were inspected?!
