Why haven't the police killed any black doctors, lawyers, nurses, bankers, accountants or any other upstanding black citizens?
Because they know to do what they're told.

I think the bigger issue is if BLM put half of that energy into actually doing things to improve the communities producing young black men that have continually put themselves in situations with the potential to be shot by police then they might be taken seriously.

The bigger problem to me is that BLM totally ignores the situations that lead up to these police encounters and irresponsibly places the blame on the cops.
You don't say...
Question for the black guys
...
What exactly is BLM looking to accomplish? Where is the end and what do thy expect to have? What is end game?

Most poor people are not criminals though. They are just trying to scrape by day to day and make a decent living.
The biggest problem with policing is that a lot of police departments don't have the money to pay good officers to work their nor do they have the money for training.
If you wanted to be a police officer would you rather work for
NOPD- 38K a year and barely any equipment given to you.
Biloxi Ms PD- 42K a year with a take home car and you are given everything you need.
The crime levels of both cities are drastically different.

I work with some very hard working, successful black guys and they agree with the OP. They also talk about thug culture, welfare recipients and their tax dollars going to waste. But you know, they are just racist towards blacks too.

OK.
But if you are?
I'm willing to bet you don't cause a scene and further promote more stress.
I'm white and when a cop tells me to do something, I do, begrudgingly, but I do.

quote:yes. I don't do anything to warrant unwanted attention from cops. If they stop me I comply and go on. I usually disarm them from any animosity with a pleasant greeting and and empathetic tone.
OK.

Cliff notes:
It's a class problem not a race problem.
Have an upvote.

quote:More importantly Scruffy it is about bad behavior by individuals. There are hard working poor people that go about their daily lives, black, white and etc., that don't cause trouble and don't have run ins with police every other week.
The reason is because it is largely a class issue, not a race issue. It just so happens that a higher percentage of blacks are of lower socioeconomic status.

It's called personal responsibility. Once you can completely take the blame away from yourself, you can do anything, and it's someone else's fault. Of course if you have personal responsibility, it then becomes your fault you are in those situations.
Eta: I don't think anyone has told the BLM folks that cops kill more white people than black people each year

It's a perspective that is based only on what he sees on tv.
The reality is, cops show more attention too and harass black males more than any other gender/race combo. He assumes that successful young black males aren't stereotyped by these cops when that simply isn't true.
I was harassed by this cop in Roswell for dwb. I guess he assumed that since it was late at night and I was out, I was up to no good. I pull into a fast food place to grab something to eat, I pull out of the drive thru and into a turning lane, this clown suddenly pulls out of a parking lot and turns his lights on and has me back up back into the fast food place. Supposedly, I looked like another black male they were looking for. He then searchers my vehicle when I didn't give him permission too. His words were, me denying him permission gave him reason to search my vehicle. So I had to wait an hour while this clown tore apart my car. Then when he didn't find anything, he wrote a fake ticket for wreckless driving.
Another story, 17 years old leaving baseball practice, I was followed by a cop and was pulled over for driving 33 in a 25. Whatever, I thought the speed limit was 35. I still have my baseball pants on, and left my wallet in my pants of my school uniform. The cop precedes to pull his gun on me and has me walk to my trunk and get my wallet. Any little thing could have moved and this clown could've blown my head off for driving less than 35 mph. He then writes me a ticket and proceeds to add a reckless driving charge to that and says its possible kids could've been in the area. It was 6pm and it wasn't in a school zone. I got it taken off in court, but the point still stands. These cops think they can do whatever they want and get away with it.

As a kid my friends and I got harassed by cops and we were all in a mostly white suburban neighborhood. Why? Bc they suspected we were up to no good. Usually they were right bc that's what young guys do...

you are blanketing cops just as racist blanket blacks or other minorities

Mostly, yes. There are exceptions, obviously.
I'll add that more than just a few of the cops involved in such shootings are black. They can sometimes be racist too, meaning they can see a lower-income black man and treat him worse than they would someone else.
But the larger point, that it is *mostly* related to class/behavior is probably true. It is also highly dependent on the cop, there are some cops who are just bad apples to start with and are responsible for most of these cases.
