I should've never been in the place where they felt the need to pull the guns in the first place.
I understand what you are saying, but blanketing all police as being the exact same is unfair. You have to admit that there are a certain type of black male that is getting killed. All of them have had multiple run ins with the law for the most part.

I was too. The post reeks of respectability politics and boot licking. Also I'm really tired of posting this: BLM was started as a response to the disproportionate amount of force the police use against minorities. It's not an economic outreach group. That's it.

The BLM folks took a legitimate conversation about the War on Drugs and the militarization of our police forces and turned it into a shitshow. I fricking hate those people.

And you can't think of a reason why that is?

I know exactly what the reason is, I speak on these issues with other blacks. I don't go around work and majority white message boards like the op and try to start shite. If you're going to say something, say something that will make a difference, not to make blacks look bad.

Do you think cops let everyone talk to them like this?

You seem like good people and you actually have a lot of similar thoughts that I have. I just don't like the threads being brought to this board. I've seen blacks made fun of way to often on this board.

You're right because I use the same argument when defending cops. I was actually just refuting your comments about it never happening to certain class blacks. I come from a very successful family and do quite well myself being an engineer. I wasn't trying to say all, cops are bad.

This train of thought is exactly what is wrong with a subset of black society today. You all think that something is wrong with expecting everyone conduct themselves as decent human beings and not partake in illegal activities. So by your account every successful black person is a boot licker. That is really sad. What is sadder is that the vast majority of poor blacks think that they way of life is okay and that the rest of us are wrong for not accepting it. Shameful

I am a successful black person. Ph.D. Candidate in biology at LSU and I still think it's boot licking and respectability politics.

Again, you are blanketing. It doesn't make blacks overall look bad. It is just telling the sad truth about a societal matter. One of the biggest problems we face is that no one wants to be called out on their b.s., white or black. It is time that we all have to accept the truth about it. Nothing wrong with that.

Why, because I said it on a message board with majority of white posters? It is being talked about a great deal in the conservative black community on a daily basis.

Because do you know how many black professionals get stopped in nice fancy cars and get profiled everyday?? Do you know how many get asked "How can afford this car?" My dad is quite successful has a very nice luxury car (a reward to himself mind u) that he bought this past year. You know how many times he's been stopped since he bought it? 6. He used to drive an Silverado, know how many times he was stopped it over the 10 years he drove it. Twice. There are hundreds of other stories like that all over the country.

There are thousands of times they don't get stopped. My mom drives a black, E series Benz (2015). She nor my father has never been stopped in it. Also, did your father get shot and killed? I guess not because he probably didn't do anything to incite any force from the officer.

Do u realize how annoying it is to get stopped for no reason? Of course he didn't do anything to incite them, because he knows the game being played. Not once in the 6 times he's been stopped has he been given a ticket, so why stop him in the first place if he wasn't doing anything wrong. It's frustrating and fricking deamning as a man to have to deal with that bullshite

I'm white as liquid paper and think your specific idea and experience, while just in it's context, isn't just in the context of profiling on the largest scale. Watch your back.

As quickly as that could have happened to you is how quickly a careless cop could be killed by someone he stopped.

You encountered one cop that day, he may have encountered 10 to 20 potential killers that same day.....

I agree with you, but you can't say that just because he was stopped that all cops are out to get black people.
