WASHINGTON (ABC7) — A man was arrested Monday evening for impersonating a police officer and causing a disturbance at the Whole Foods in Foggy Bottom Monday evening. According to D.C. Police, a woman reported seeing the man, later identified as Evan Graham, 47, threatening several customers with a pair of silver handcuffs inside the grocery store in the 2200 block of I Street, Northwest, at around 6 p.m. When officers arrived at the scene and approached Graham, police say he became aggressive and handcuffed one of the officers. Graham then demanded the officer to "stop resisting."

After the officers successfully took Graham into custody, they performed a search and recovered one 9mm Speer Hollow Point Live Round. Graham was arrested for simple assault, resisting arrest, possession of unregistered ammunition, false impersonation of a police officer, and possession of implements of a crime.

This is my normal post-work Whole Foods. It's a strange mix of college students and homeless people both inside and outside.

Hits close to home. That’s our nation’s capital. It could have been any of us.

That's how he blew it. Real police only say that while they're taking a tazer or the billyclubs to somebody and they're convulsing all over the place.

That's my precise reaction to that "stop resisting" part.

Somebody needs a refresher on defensive tactics.

Before I went to law school, I was at a stoplight in Conway, SC trying to turn left into a shopping center to get a new phone. In front of me was a car that failed to turn left when the green arrow came on. I honked the horn twice, the car turned left and I went into the store. I really thought nothing of it at the time.

When I got into the store, I was soon approached by a woman who flashed me a badge and told me she was a cop. She said I had violated the law by honking my horn at her. I called her an idiot and told her that a horn was on the vehicle for a specific purpose: to alert people of a traffic violation. She again threatened me, pulled out a set of handcuffs and then threatened to arrest a store employee who attempted to intervene.

At that point, I asked for her name, department and badge number and I asked to see her badge again. She proceeded to run out of the store and drive away. The store clerk got her license plate number, we filed a police report and she was arrested. We found out later she got jail time because this wasn't her first offense.

I still to this day have no idea what the allure is of impersonating a cop, especially when there's no financial or material benefit to the offender.

Holy shite. I was at a Whole Foods yesterday. Could have just as easily been me impersonating an officer.

Really makes you think.

That's why they're homeless. They bought a pound on organic arugula and didn't have anything left for rent.
