To get life, one of your convictions must be a violent crime.
Ok.
But obviously this violent conviction was not enough to get life before.
But now you get arrested with simple possession, and now life in prison?
You all cannot complain about this, while also complaining about how our government wastes tax dollars in the same breath.

In fact, police make more arrests for marijuana possession alone than for all violent crimes combined.
This makes plenty of sense. Violent crime is on the decline.
This whole article is very poorly written.

I mean it's not like the criminals make it all that hard to catch them when they walk down the street and drive around without even trying to mask the smell of the MJ.

Sounds like a good idea. Let's allow people who have violent convictions and using narcotics to continue getting free passes. Cause we all know every time they've been arrested results in convictions. How many do you want living next to you?

Nobody has said violent convictions get a free pass.

Drama much?
Look, I think MJ should be 100% legal, but that article is one giant SJW talking point and is very typical of overly simplified liberal thought patterns.

The Pirate King
You answered his question indirectly, by proving how much of an idiot you are with your lack of reading comprehension.

Im for it being legal, but until it is, stop bitching about getting arrested for it. Not that hard you miller lite drinking pothead
This is a very vague paragraph.
quote:
In Texas, for instance, 116 people are currently serving life sentences on charges of simple drug possession. Seven of those people earned their sentences for possessing quantities of drugs weighing between 1 gram and 4 grams, or less than a typical sugar packet. That's because Texas also has a habitual offender law, allowing prosecutors to seek longer-than-normal sentences for people who have two prior felonies.
This is a very vague paragraph.

Does the article talk about whether those simple possession charges were stand alone charges or added in with various other charges during the same arrest?

What about all the resources wasted on prostitution? Should be legalized too right?
Posted on 10/12/16 at 1:05 pm to Salmon
I was in court in Collin County Texas (North DFW) last week and every other case they called was possession under two ounces.
Seemed like a huge waste of the courts time to me.

Yes, prostitution should be legalized. Next?

The crux of that article is that this is a war on poor minorities

Possession and a Habitual Offender are two separate arguments.
