Defending the police here is really inexcusable as an American imo. They deliberately crossed the line- period. I am very pro police, but these actions are unacceptable. I feel that if you are intentionally messing with someone else's freedom, you have gone too far. Was the dude a nuisance, maybe. Was he breaking any laws-no. In short...do your job and move along. This is an abuse of power.
On another note, are the check points an actual deterrent or are they a waste of tax dollars? I say this as the removal of one drunk may save lives. As a fiscal conservative though, are they worth it. It would seem that they are either very effective or not really needed (maybe because they are so effective). Interesting.

Yes, expecting the police to not frame someone and trump up charges is absolutely what is wrong with America. That was very un-American of me.

In reality your post applies to you

For one week please come here and start a thread every time you hear about some urban thug doing something criminal. It might make you a little less excited every time you hear about police wrongdoing.

I'm not here to defend every cop, because there are some bad ones, so please don't continue to defend every person arrested by police, because they are usually the bad ones.

But you are here to deflect . And please show me where I have defended criminal behavior. You may think you can find it. But you won't.

As you deflect the fact that you get off on starting a thread every time the police do something wrong. Spend some time looking for the good things they do.

No amount of good things make the bad things acceptable.

Dude, he's ignoring your irrelevant deflection concerning his posting pattern- that is ignoring a petty irrelevancy, not a deflection.

You are deflecting- you cannot accuse someone else of deflecting when they just choose to ignore your own deflection. That's not how any of this works.
