Was the person at the desk deaf?
I’ve had a couple appointments and never had an issue with them hearing me at the doctor’s office with the mask and the plexiglass.

I tried to order a cheese pizza for my kids the other day. Busy restaurant. Music blaring. I'm in a mask. She's in a mask. Plexiglass between us. We're yelling back and forth just to get the order done.

Not everyone speaks loudly & clearly enough to project through a mask
Add someone hard of hearing & background noise in & it makes things difficult

If COVID was half as bad as it has been made out to be, every McDonalds in the country would be struggling with staying open. Plexiglass isn't magically stopping transmission in those drive thru windows.
