Plas Johnson (Pink Panther theme) died - was from Donaldsonville

I grew up in Donaldsonville and loved the Pink Panther when I was little, but I had no idea I was surrounded by family of the guy who composed the theme song that we all know by heart.
Anyway, this guy died recently. Pour one out!

My dad was from Donaldsonville.. He moved to New Orleans after WW2.. When he and my mom would go to parties they would always run into or find out someone from there.. My mom called Donaldsonville the Garden of Eden...

I saw a documentary about the Wrecking Crew, a big group of session musicians in L.A. in the 60’s and 70’s. Plas was one.
When everyone was recording in L.A., they were used on the record, not the band.
They were just too good.

I hate to burst your bubble, but Henry Mancini was the guy who composed The Pink Panther Theme for the film and he died all the way back in 1994.

Dude was from Donaldsonville, I can't believe I didn't know that. I'm a 50's,60's jazz fan which is particularly why.

Damn, that clip of the Dick Nixons tells me who influenced the guys who became Dash Rip Rock. In a strange way I like it.
