Plant baws, which area has better turnaround work, Lake Charles or the Golden Triangle?

I jump on turnarounds for a living and I'm debating on where to live.

I mainly do electrical and I do scaffolding as a backup (trashy I know, but it's the only other craft I know)

My lease in Vinton is due in October and while Vinton is right in the middle, it's a little too ghetto for me

Lake Charles, Sulphur, Westlake vs. Beaumont, Port Arthur, Orange.

Was wondering what you guys would say?

Places you certainly do not want to be.

You can live in LC and reach BMT and PA if you are ok with a commute. Gives you a lot of options between both.

Ummm, you might want to avoid the Golden Triangle.

Move a little further east on 90. Choupique area. Still close enough to drive to both.

Are you living out of a camper, or apartment/rental?

What’s your level of electrical, experience, age, and so on? Do you like/want to keep doing turn arounds, or want something permanent? Lots of open ended things. We have plenty of guys at my plant in BR that started out as contractors, and then moved into plant positions bc they had been here long enough, knew our plant, and we knew they were workers.

If your chasing money, and like the turn around life style you can pretty much go anywhere. Just depends on how much you like to wake up earlier bc of the drive to get there.

Defining your job by the hours you work is trashy.

Beaumont is one of the least happiest cities in the nation.

Choose accordingly.
