After being at Barksdale AFB for 6 years I don't care where I get my foot in the door. I'm a ChemE student currently. It might sound weird but I really love this major. My dad was at Westlake and enjoyed it. I'm certain he took a paycut to be at a smaller plant to be a senior engineer.

1. Thanks for your service
2. If you love the major, you'll really love the job...in the right plant.
3. Your dad had the right idea. Small plants are where its at if you love being an engineer. I dont mean having the title of engineer. I mean loving to solve problems, optimize processes, and design.

You sound like the right kind of guy for the job. Remind me of myself with the prior military. When do you graduate? Hit me up on here when you start looking for a job. I work in the St Gabriel / Geismar area

Dec 2024 is when I'm done. I get to go to the sandbox in 2023 so that pushed me back a semester.

I worked at Georgia Gulf now Westlake for 8yrs as an Process Operator. When I started, work attire was blue jeans, Tshirt and tennis shoes and before I left it was Long sleeve FRC and steel toes. It was great as far as most of the original Operators from the plants opening were all still there and most were reaching retirement age and it was ran old school style. Safety was talked about but not king and it had a very laid back atmosphere as long as you took care of your business. The bad side was just like every other plant I've worked at on the west Bank, was that it was very political or cliqueish. If you were not a homeboy were always on the outside looking in for they took care of their own
