Not going to read the article at this moment but is that only salary or fully loaded labor cost?

Not hard to reach that in the industry if you factor in all the benefits and LTIP value. That’s the stuff that a lot of people take for granted.

How much is that per hour? That is the common thread.

Not in refining. The union guy with most seniority who scoops up all the OT might come close.
Companies aren't stupid.

I know guys working at the terminal in Valdez making 170-200 a year. It's amazing what they pay those guys for the work they do.

And when oil prices dip (and they will), job security is gone.

And, they are largely clock punchers and subject to shitty shifts.

But, that kind of cash sans an engineering degree is something. However, their snickering about educated mgmt is misdirected. No. Your job isn’t better. Far from it.

They're not really paid for the actual work they do. They're paid enough so that the company doesn't have to train a new one every two years cause he missed a couple boat notes and took the better offer down the road. Turnover sucks in a production environment, even if all the workers are doing is watching a few levels and gauges, they know which ones to watch.

Can confirm. I work in the refineries. Job sucks, been working 60-70 hours weeks for the past 3 months, but when I’m on 4/10s, it’s the best.

Maybe about 5% of hourly workers will gross over 200k. About 5% of hourly will gross below 100k.

No talking contractors.

Senior guy working 210 days a year will be around 150k.

Virtually no salary is making below 125k after two years.
