Rebuild the people. The area will follow.

But that would require effort by the people, which is a nonstarter.

They want handouts, not hand-ups.

Why are we all shitting on this improvement? Because it’s a local government project as opposed to a private one? Because it’s SWB’s idea? Because it’s in NBR?

I’m just curious why we are clapping on local government trying to improve local communities.

Because the degradation of the area is primarily a function of its residents not caring enough to keep it up. Fixing up the area should first come from the people living there putting forth their effort first.

There will be no incentive for them to keep the area up, in 5-10 years it will be about the same that it is now and they'll want it re-done all over again.

At best this will end up being lipstick on a pig.

And instead BRPD is undermanned, underpaid and not motivated.

And what is the administration doing to fix all of that? Nothing

I didn't read the entire thread. Have they given us an idea of how much tax money is going to be used for this project? What are we on the hook for?

I remember my mom and stepdad living off of Hollywood street (1976-1988). Never felt unsafe except for one time my garage sale bicycle was stolen. Never feared Exxon blowing up but the gas smells on Amarillo street are still buried deep within my nostrils.

Loved the Delmont Piccadilly where I met coach Pete Richardson and I spent five months working at Piggly Wiggle in Delmont Village.

Parents are dead and there is no reason to travel NBR any longer. It was fun being young once.

We used to eat at that Piccadilly every week when I was a kid in the 80s.

Needs high speed rail to Angola.

Would be fun if St. George sued to block the project.

I wanna see this area revitalized, built up and thrive.

I’m a product of the area.

But, the wrong people are gonna be over this, too many wrong hands in the pot and it’s gonna become corrupt AF and it’s never gonna be built.
