PHS wasn't always the best one. Beginning in the early 2000's under the great Dewayne Lemoine is when that school really took off. Then they became the performing arts magnet for the area, along with the outstanding teachers in arts dept (Johnny walker, the Rudds), and that helped seal the deal. I wasn't zoned for PHS, so my admission was through the school of performing arts.

Dewayne Lemoine took a good school and made it truly great. The staff was wonderful, and he was a good leader. Now Dr. Carpenter seems to be doing a nice job. We had 200 in our graduating class 12 years ago, and my brothers class this spring had 300.

I havent been down there in a couple of years. Did the new bridge help the traffic congestion in the afternoons?

Sorry, I don't ever recall there being traffic in Pineville or alexandria. probably because I've been living in Baton Rouge so long. But the new bridge is nice.

And yes, Tioga's old director. He got his PhD a while back and has been the principal at PHS since Mr. Lemoine left to be a superintendent.

since we're talking about PHS... the Louisiana College AD/football coach just resigned there to take the same job at PHS

pretty sure he was Evangel Christian's old coach from the EC's glory years

He gave the talk at my brother's baccalaureate ceremony last month. Hopefully he can bring PHS football back to the good old days when I was in HS. Problem is they moved up to 5A and now their district schedule is brutal. They play the big boys and get slaughtered.

To answer several questions posed in this thread:

1. What to do- Mirror Room and Finnegan's Wake are pretty much the best nightlife you can ask for in the Cenla area. When I go back home, it's either this or drinking at the house

2. Totally agree with tigerbandpiccolo on the schools. Country Day for K-8 is private but your best option for those. Pineville High is a great high school. That was my path to success so I may be a bit biased.

3. Johnny's Pizza can DIAF. BJ's is where it's at!

They used to be a basketball school. The Rebels and Peabody would usually keep my HS out of the playoffs back in the day.

I did a two-year stretch at L.C. before I escaped to Northwestern. I was NOT L.C.'s kind of guy.
