The deli in my office building does just that, 50 cents for a CC transaction. I think that's the best way for a super small business to operate.

This is 2017. If a business is still having to deal with a minimum fee on a credit card swipe, they need to use a new processor.

I have been the treasurer of a non-profit booster club for about 6 months, since we started it. We run a concession stand and a spirit wear desk. The markups are insane.

For soccer season, we opened a Square account and took credit cards for a two week period when we were collecting uniform fees and selling pre-order spirit wear. So many people purchased additional shirts and other items from us because we took a card. Probably three times as much as when we used cash. We sell a shirt for $15. Our square charge for a swipe is 2.75% with no min. It costs us 41 cents a swipe. The shirt costs us $7. I look at it as we just made an extra $7.59 that we would not have made if we didn't take the cards. That's money that gets put right back into the park.

We did it for the spirit wear desk because we had three people use their personal cell phones, with the square app connected to our business square account. Easy enough.

We are looking at taking cards at the concession stand when baseball starts, but I don't want random workers using their phones, so we are going to need to buy a couple of tablets. That's the only reason we aren't doing it for concessions.

Businesses that don't take cards or have min generally have poor business practices and are losing out on profits that well exceed the costs of taking cards.

As a consumer, if a place is cash only or has a min card charge, unless I am desperate, I walk away.

If a business won't accept cards or has a charge fee, I won't spend money there. It's a plastic world....especially for business expenses.

If enough people care they will change

I'm sure it's been covered but I'll just reply to you.

This hasn't been true for some years now. CC company terms allow for minimums.
