I just don't understand why anyone would want to own a known aggressive species

especially a pit, they are ugly as hell

why?

Because you're endangering your children.

you drive your kids around in a car.... cars wreck and kill people..... if you drive your kids around are you endangering your kids and should they be taken from you?

You don't understand.....dogs are part of the family! You do realize that only other people's dogs bite...! Until owners of these animals are really held accountable for the actions of these dogs, we'll continue to see stories of killings by these predators.

Did you see the post earlier in this thread where someone said they saw this mom had posted a picture just a week or so ago on FB of her child playing with the very dog that later killed her child?

Yup, but I don't know that dog. I know this one and it not an issue. Now the cocker spaniel across the street that's the one that we are worried about. That thing is vicious.

You have kids? Humans are known to be aggressive. Kill them all.

I beg to differ. People pull over their cars when I walk my dog to tell me how beautiful he is, some having no clue he's a pit bull. He's not a ball of muscle with clipped ears... that's douchebag stuff for people who want a stereotype as a pet for their own image.

To each their own.

If you're driving around in one of the most dangerous cars on the road and not taking precautions like buckling them in, yes. Travis the fricking Chimp was nice too, and a great pet, until his bit Charla Nash's face off. It ain't no fun when the rabbit's got the gun.

my arch-rival is an old basset hound. that sucker is deceptively fast with a bark like a mastiff.

Sorry but you lack education if you think the whole breed needs to go. Do you not think a dog is a product of its enviroment the same way humans are? I understand as a parent you are concerned but be please be logical.

Logical? If one can process things correctly, and use logic correctly, then the logical conclusion would be to ban the breed. I see no redeeming value to the pit bull breed. You can't rewrite genetic blueprints, which is why pit bulls will always have the tendency to behave this way.

I'll be 100% with no bias

Do I believe they're the most dangerous dog? -Not at all; top 3 maybe, but if I gave you my other 2 dogs I'd put in the top 3, you'd think I'm lying.

However, when you group the abilities of a pit bull, with what it was bred to do, along with a careless or lazy owner, I then think it is a very dangerous dog but not the #1 most dangerous.

In the article linked in the OP, the mother was in the apartment with the child and dog. She tried to stop the dog, but the dog attacked her.

She deserves the grief she's feeling now, and whatever legal consequences will come. Her 4 year old daughter paid the price of her mother's stupidity.

same thing goes with dogs. why cant a family that has a dog and still be responsible.

Im not taking up for shitty owners, im just fighting against the shitheads that say kill all (insert dog breed) because they had a shitty owner.

My top three would probably be:
1.Wolf
2.Hyena
3.Pit Bull
