That's way to big to be a true Pit. Definitely some kind of bully mix.
If it's true that the dog was bred by the lady's son that helps to confirm that he is trash. I can't stand people who are in the business of breeding these super bully dogs.

What is your definition of a Pit Bull? I'm not challenging you, but I don't think everyone is really on the same page. The term "Pit Bull" really represents several different breeds IMHO. However, some folks only consider the American Pit Bull Terrier to be a "Pit Bull."

That's from Wikipedia, and I agree. I think most people are completely unaware that these are multiple different breeds.
None of the following are APBT, but I'd argue that they are certainly all "Pit Bulls."
Having said all of that, I'm not a fan of the Pit Bull breeds and I wouldn't own one, especially if I had children... But since this is a blanket term, are one or more of these breeds that fall under the "Pit Bull" umbrella more aggressive than others? I don't know for sure, but I would guess that there is quite a bit of crossbreeding between these breeds. I doubt very many of these dogs have papers certifying that they are purebred Amstaffs, APTBs, American Bulldogs, etc.

That dog is too big to be a pure pit. He has to be a bully mix. This is another thing that gives pits a bad name because people think any stocky box headed looking dog is a pit so a lot times these attacks are mislabeling the type of dog. The backyard breeders are the problem with this breed. There are so much crossbreeding.
Also in the article it says that a female pit in the apartment was in heat. That's going to make any male dog a lot more crazier. Also no one should have two dogs of this size in an apartment.
It's absolutely horrific an innocent little girl lost her life but it's the dog not the breed.

I wish they would start charging the owners with 2nd degree murder for these deaths. Maybe then the irresponsible owners would have their dogs separated from innocent victims. And this goes for any breed. You as an owner knows what your dog is capable of.

if we have all the "it's the owner, not the dog" people, is there any type of punishment for the owners? like manslaughter or murder charge?
owners should be prosecuted for the crime of the pit...wonder how many pit bull advocates would sign on to that program...
