I’ve been watching old Colombo and Perry Mason episodes.
Both of those shows had some fine a$$ women/guest stars in them. I would bet that there was a casting director back then getting him some on the side.
ETA: One of my guilty crushes is definitely Della Street...

They also had one outside Auburn. Never knew about it until I was in my 20's. Grandmother was giving me directions to some location and said "turn at POW camp."
