So, the defense only gave up 3 points all year?
And the offense gave up 8 points off safties?

In 1908 a touchdown was worth five points with another point that could be added with a kick (PAT) similar to today's PAT.
A field goal was worth four points.
A safety was worth two points (same as today's rules).
So, it looks like we had a TD, a field goal, and a safety scored on us for the entirety of the 1908 season.

Wow
I'm late catching up on this thread. I enjoy letting several pages build up, then browsing during down time at the office
Can't wait to see if there were any follow ups on this particular pic now

A makeshift dog hospital set up to treat wounded dispatch dogs coming from the front c. 1918.

Do an internet search for Dan Blocker and Campbell Corvette Special.

Supposedly around 70-80 of the Z16's are documented to have survived iirc.
Blocker's is still out there;

Thanks Bucky, RebRxV. I do remember the short lived Z-16 and I always assumed (wrongly) that it came with the legendary 396/L78 engine. The L37 was still a beast of a motor, however. the Z-16 truly was a part of the beginning of muscle car era.

I'm going off the rails on a crazy train.

With such limited production I'm kind of surprised they didn't put the solid cam in it. May have been politics with it sharing the Vette's new for '65 396/425hp engine, so went with the milder hydraulic 375hp version. (1965 ratings. Later the hyd 396's maxed out at 350hp in the brochures)
Surprisingly, the cars had unique trim and a modified convertible frame among other things that made them very different from a standard Malibu. Big changes for such a small run. Saying that, they were basically promotional cars to build excitement for the '66 Chevelle SS and many were given out to celebrities.

Oh, I believe that had everything to do with it. It was an understanding that the Corvette would always have the biggest, baddest motor Tonawanda could give them. As you probably know, the exception came in 1970 when the LS6 went to the Chevelle and the LS5 was the top dog for the Vette. That didn't sit well with the Corvette camp even though 1970 was a short production year for the Corvette, GM ended up yanking the LS6 out of the Chevelle and putting it in the Vette the following year.
This is a good article with what GM was doing behind the scenes with the 427/454.

Howard Hughes "Spruce Goose" under construction. I saw it when it was parked at Long Beach next to the Queen Mary. After the short movie presentation and the curtain and screen moved away and there it was, it would take your breath away.
