So end of WW1, around 1920? Was Hitler in power somewhere at that time, and did they already have swastikas'?

I thought that started in the early 30's, but maybe not.

Picture was 1938.

My OP may be wrong. Hoover was traveling (that is for sure). Hitlers team (for lack of a better word) set up the meeting. This looks like late 30s early 1940s. Why HH was traveling so far after WWI I do not know.

He wasn't closeted at all. Published an anti-Semitic newspaper and a book.

newspaper was shut down after 8 years of lawsuits over antisemitism;

Yep, and in another post about the Martello Castle I posted that I spent several nights out there in that very fort at the invite of the people who owned it at the time.

That picture shows the side that faced the Ship Channel with that ground floor opening being the "front door".

Around back they had a slab and a covered area to fish from and out into the lake there were several poles the width of the fort that ran out about 100 ft. that were wired for lights.

Not sure what year that pic was taken, but the place is really in disrepair from the times I spent out there and it is nothing but a huge pile of rubble now.

Yeah, I don't think the old fort was too historically significant since it was allowed to be privately owned for many years before Katrina took it out.
