The San Francisco Chief leaving Chicago in 1967. The Santa Fe "Chiefs" (Super Chief, San Francisco Chief) were super luxurious trains. They were the "in" method of transportation for celebrities and business moguls until the early 60's. To the great credit of the Santa Fe Railroad, the trains had most of their main amenities until the end of private passenger train service. The food, for example, was first class.
