I saw a photo of the deer park. I'll find and post tomorrow. I'll look and see if I can find a Marine Land.

Can’t imagine the statistical probability of this feat, but no matter, it’s a reverse fly by shooting, maybe the only one ever.

Not to be a downer, but if you multiply the statistical improbability of the feat (plane cruising at over 200 mph) by the statistical improbability of the event being caught on camera in the 1940s at this perfect angle showing the pistol, it's very likely fake.

I'm all about some American propaganda, but just saying.

I too was dubious about this, primarily due to the photo. The story, however, seems to be true. I’ve read hundreds of books about WW2 and have never heard of this. To the extent that the claim was verifiable, it seems to have been accepted over the years as a true story. Whether that photo montage is real or not is a separate matter. I doubt that part.

Biloxi Beach Amusement Park…Hurricane Camille wiped it out.

Maybe, but it was in operation decades after 1969’s Camille. (Note post 1969 cars in your photo.) It was however wiped out in 2005 by Katrina and did not reopen.

Yep. My parents were from Biloxi and I used to spend my summers there with my granddparents. Goofy Golf and the amusement park were operating well into the late 1970s, because I went there often thise summers up until I became a teenager.

Though at some point Goofy Golf did change its name to "Magic Golf" and was moved to a new location a short distance west along Hwy. 90.

1958 Hydrogen Bomb test in the Pacific, Operation Hardtack, Oak test, 7.8 megatons, photo supposed to be from 100 miles away, it created an oval shaped crater over a mile long, and the mushroom cloud was 78000 feet tall.

What I found to be cool was that Tom Dowd was a player in the Manhattan project. Talk about a Renaissance man.

Didn't know... That is cool.

Those dudes did some amazing things in a limited time. Must have been incredibly exciting.
