Thirty years ago, a photographer acquaintance of mine was asked to take reference photos for artist Michael Deas, who had been commissioned by Universal Studios to paint an updated version of the torch lady logo used since 1924. The photographer was Kathy Anderson, the model her good friend Jenny Joseph, and the shots were taken in Kathy's apartment, draping bed sheets to simulate Greek style clothing. Here is the resulting artwork that millions have seen onscreen since, and also one of the outtakes. Jenny had never been a model before and never has since, but her kids have thought it really cool seeing their mom on the big screen.
