I'll just say that if you're in an Amsterdam train station you'd better have some change in your pocket if you get hit with a case of traveler's stomach.

They had pay toilets at the Royal Castle near our house, I had to use it as a kid. My dad was pissed when he saw the pay mechanism and told me to hold it in until we get home.

Loretta Swit never really did anything for me. Word was she was a bitch in real life, and difficult to work with. She was the Empress of Argus in 1979, and was told she was completely miserable the whole time she was in New Orleans.

Look how much fun she's having.

On the other hand, Barbara Eden was Empress in 1975, and had a blast.. Word was, when they sent a limo to pick her up at the airport, she didn't want to ride in the limo but on the back of a JPSO motorcycle cop's bike that was there with the escort, which she did.

quote:

The ride: As Empress Argus, Eden arrived at the New Orleans International Airport (MSY) and was chauffeured to the celebration in Metairie. Historical photos document her riding a specially branded motorcycle for the occasion.

"specially branded," JPSO badges...

My SIL is the publisher for a small weekly community newspaper in Florida. They have a charity event there every year for pet rescue organizations and Loretta Swit was the main speaker one year since she was heavily involved with animal rights.

My SIL and her staff were told by Swit's "people" that they were not to address Ms. Swit about anything to her directly or even talk to her. Any communication was to go through her assistant first and Ms. Swit would decide if it was important enough for her to respond to.

Two of the three perps eventually got neutralized for their crimes.

Stabbed four employees to death.

The Yogi rules apply to the perps, ftr.

On September 30, 1966, the Mercury Cougar was introduced. Ford Motor Company positioned the vehicle between the Mustang and the Thunderbird.
The Cougar proved to be a sales success, with 150,893 units sold in its debut year, far exceeding Mercury’s expectations. It was named MotorTrend’s Car of the Year for 1967, beating out Chevrolet’s first-year Camaro.

Never thought Hot Lips was attractive in the least. How she got cast in that role is beyond me.

Barbara Eden, on the other hand…

In high school, from 1979 to around 1982, my friend Todd had one of these. Before his dad died of cancer, he, Todd and his brothers worked on three old cars and fixed them up and customized each of them, one for each son. Todd had this model Cougar. It wound up being base-painted gold (like Saints helmet metallic old gold) but had wide royal blue racing stripes on the hood, roof, trunk, and sides. Very showy, very LOUD. Black fake leather interior with orange shag carpeting. Great cassette stereo system. Store-bought black rubber floor mats with the little Harvey Comics demon 'Hot Stuff' on them, which of course read "Hot Stuff". And finally, a license plate frame that said, "Damn I'm Good".

While most of the guys thought all that stuff wasn't so cool, and it was a little over the top and cheesy, what I DID think was cool was on the dash there was a little bronze plate, about the size of a business card (maybe a little bigger) that had been engraved with, "This car made especially for TODD _______". Todd's dad died not too long after Todd was old enough to drive it, and I thought THAT was a really neat and heartfelt gesture with a lot of meaning.

Of course, Todd sold that car before he even graduated high school and got a Honda Accord instead. And he transferred the "Damn I'm Good" license frame to THAT.

I know nothing about it. I shared it from another source that had the information on the post of the picture. That said, I'm not surprised. (just like Baton Rouge and countless other similar cities that weren't shite holes in the 50s).
