oh look, they let a stewardess dress up like the pilot and pose by the plane.

That was one badass plane!
IS, sir. IS.
It currently has no date of retirement set. The Air Force wants to replace it with the F-35, but that $1.5 trillion boondoggle can't BRRRT.
Meanwhile, with a few thousand pounds of bathtub moonshine to spin up her engines and $50k of bullets to satiate her cannon, the A-10 will BRRRT all over your arse.

We used to see those guys flying over Natachie , Iatt ,Toledo Bend, and Several other lakes in CENLA back when they were stationed in Alex . They would pop out of no where and look like they were going 50 miles an hr . The pilots would give us a wing tip or wave . A few minutes later you would here the Brrrrrrrrrrrrrt at the target range . Those jets just looked rugged as hell!

You are correct. The gun was developed first and then the Air Force got bids from the aircraft manufacturers to build a plane to carry it.
So is this a way for the military to make sure the mfgrs dont go building this for other countries?
Im not a military guy, so how many countries have something like this (or the next best equivalent)?

Geez. Any target practice videos of that thing? Ha.
How many round does the plane carry?

That’s not accurate. The cannon isn’t mounted in the nose.
The entire fuselage wraps around the cannon.

That's not necessarily true. The AF has said we need the F-35 to be prepared to fight the high-end fight and that we can't afford to just add aircraft. This is not just because of the price tag on the F-35, but is mainly due to not having enough pilots to go around. So when looking at what types of aircraft we need for the future fight, the A-10 was the logical choice to retire because it can't survive the highly contested environment and the CAS mission can be spread across the rest of the inventory. Will any single aircraft perform CAS as well as the A-10? No, but that is irrelevant if you can't gain air superiority. We haven't had a friendly troop fired on from the air since the Korean War. The AF's job is to make sure that doesn't change.
We are going to see the same thing as we bring on the B-21. The B-2 and B-1 will be getting retired as that thing comes online.

Record for tank kills with A10
I grew up with Capt. Eric Salomonson. He was 1 year younger than I. Both of us graduated Berthoud High School and Colorado State University.
Interview on A10 tank kills starts about 1:30
