Well… I am a Californian, so I guess you might be onto something. Don’t worry though, I only brought my gun collection and a tendency to overanalyze religious threads, not plastic straw bans.

Would be actually fair.
Lots of people without EBT still cant afford to take their kids to the zoo. But frick them because they arent on govt dependency.

Love California, but the ones coming into Scottsdale were anti-gun, and deep Democrats.
Still not nearly as bad as the New Yawkers, though.

This is essentially a subsidy/stimulus package for the zoo, which probably needs it in PHX as going between April-October is suicide

I would avoid the Phoenix. You know the Shakeishas will be there all the time now. With them lil bad arse kids.

just that if they're on ebt they get a cash discount. i'm fine with that.
Doesnt seem fair to working class kids who dont qualify for food stamps, does it?

Yes, zoos are considered museums under the Museums for All program, which allows SNAP EBT cardholders and their families to receive free or reduced admission by presenting their card and a photo ID. Zoos offer discounts through this national initiative, which includes various types of cultural and scientific institutions, such as art museums, science centers, and historical sit

At what point are you no longer “fine with it”? Do you think everything should be price adjusted based on income, or just zoo tickets?
No.
Firstly, I don’t hate poor people. I do hate people that take advantage of public money.
Looks like this zoo is a private not for profit company. So they rely on private donors. If their budget works with giving poors a cheaper rate, I’m fine with that. I want all people to enjoy things like zoos.

And to be honest this is a rage bait thread title. Nowhere does it say that they are using ebt for entry.
I hate when the left does this with outlandish titles to articles and I don’t like that the op did it here.

A poor people discount to a public park?
I am fine with it.

It's more than just a discount to a public park.
Food stamps were meant for food. Nothing else. Not discounts on trips to the zoo or phone and cable bills.
If they want to give out incentives, make it a free class to learn how to fill out job applications and resumes.
I work hard for my money. I have no problem helping people. I have a problem with helping lazy arse people which I'd bet is the majority of food stamp recepeints today.

You just present the card to prove you are poor, and you get the reduced rate

Just the ones with EBT. The working poor are excluded.

You still shouldn't get discounts on entertainment just because you're poor.
Help them get jobs or set them up in school for a trade.

Maybe there is nothing on it, but it is still in their wallets.

It’s a private business. Why are you crying?
Posted on 10/2/25 at 9:32 pm to RocknRollAZ
What kills me about this….
I was born to a single, 18 year old mom who was living with her single income parents. They all worked their arse off, but were poor. No handouts, too proud.
A day at the Audubon Zoo was like a winning lottery ticket for me in my early years. All this to say, it taught me to value scarcity and work to avoid it. Safety nets today include way too many luxuries.

I pay taxes. That's why.
If I can't afford to go visit the zoo while I'm working, why the frick should I pay for those who aren't working?
Next question?
