Don't reach for it
I'm not reaching for it
he's not reaching for it
bang bang bang
I think it's entirely possible the cop couldn't tell what he was reaching for. My problem was, and remains, that we're creating a culture where the police either stand there and die or they kill anyone making a sudden movement, as if there are no other possible actions that can be taken.
There was a very similar shoot in Montana or somewhere like that (involving a high kid without a gun, I think). It's a fricked up dynamic.

What, there was more to the story than what a biased girlfriend posted to facebook?
Impossible. Cops are pigs.

How's about not doing that around cops like a rational person?

From the video it looks like he gave the documentation, then said he had a gun

Not sure. Wasn't he high at the time?

How about not making the penalty for being stupid around a cop immediate death because we're not a backwards fricking third world country?

He clearly warns the officer that he has a weapon, then proceeds to dig in his pants/center console, or something. Officer immediately tells him not to. Apparently he didn't listen.
Why tell the officer you have a weapon then proceed to dig into your pocket or your console? It's pretty fricking obvious you keep your hands visible and don't make any sudden moves after you've told an officer you have a gun on you.

It sounded to me like he was saying, "I'm going to have to pull it out."
My best guess is that maybe he had to pull the gun to get to the registration, etc.
It was a stupid move on his part. I really want to say the cop overreacted but you can't take chances I guess.
It's a shame, I don't think this guy had an bad intentions.
To me it's a perfect example of why we have too many guns on the street. No gun, no problem.
For all you gun lovers that spout how guns save lives, for every one time they do, you have 50 that end up worse than if there were no guns involved.
Gun owners are irrational just like pitt owners.

Eh. The cop was a little quick to shoot. He did warn him, but probably could have avoided shooting him 6 times.

Yeesh, that was awful.
Castile calmly says "sir, I do have to tell you I've got a firearm on me."
Cop says "don't pull it out." Castile says "I'm going to have to pull it out" as if it was in the way of the information the office needed.
Cop tells him "don't pull it out" again, then shoots him 6ish times.
A body cam would have been ideal in a situation such as this. We don't know what the officer saw.

I dont have a CCL but aren't you supposed to tell a cop if you have a concealed gun?
I dont have one but I imagine if I told a cop that I would be statue still...
The last time I got pulled over (like 20 years ago I kept putting my hands in my pocket because I was cold and nervous and the third time the cop looked like he wanted to shoot me. It was still hard not to do it a 4th time.

The officer was out of control. The guy informed him he had a weapon. For some reason at this point the officer lost his bearing and unloading on the driver. You talking about overkill. Who fires that many shots into a car with a toddler?

You sound like a reasonable person.

He told the cop he had a gun. What exactly would you prefer the cop do in that situation? I prefer the cop protects himself over this dude, sorry.

Again, he's practically inside the window when this is happening. In other words, if a cop wants to pull someone over for a bullshite reason, the cop should be able to kill you before taking any other action to avoid any threat he perceives.
How is that not fricked up.

How hard is it to keep two hands on the steering wheel if you have a firearm. let the officer know where it is. if it is in the door let him open the door and disarm you.

Did they even call for an ambulance?
