Maybe 20 total NOPD cops have integrity. I've met 10 of them. They have college degrees, are well spoken, yet stay working for NOPD for some reason.

The rest collect the easiest paycheck

Eta: Same goes for all detectives at NOPD. They care about nothing but easy money

I'm here right now and the have the streets blocked in all directions, NOPD on both sides of the Bayou. It's a complete shitshow out here right now. You can't get any where near the statue

Looks like city park folks backed away from any fight.

Reese's decision was the only way he could rule on what was filed. I realize you're unable to process that.

A completely racially divided city and state with this foolishness is what we have become. It will take a long time to bring this community back together and these idiot democrats don't realize how much support they have lost by those who are moderately liberal.

He should already be held in contempt by the 5th Circuit by not honoring the ruling that no City resources and only qualified workers would be used to remove the monuments.

And when somebody who's not trained to do this properly gets hurt taking a statue down, that person is going to own the city.

How can an understaffed police force have so many available officers to protect one monument?

I wonder how many people are shot and killed tonight and the thugs get away with it because out police force is protecting a statue.

It makes you wonder what his true motivations are. Does he owe this to somebody? Is it maybe just ego at this point?

This is absolutely insane.

Totally agree. Any he thinks that removing some monuments unlawfully, without a popular vote, and just for pure spite/political gain is going to get him a future job looking over some other democrats.

He is probably right- not by popular vote but some appointment. Sad existence of a human,if you ask me.

It's all ego. Since his count sister lost and he knows his political career is over this is a big "frick You" to the entire state.

He wouldn't win the monument debate if the city voted on it

He won't be able to step foot into a single restaurant uptown without people getting in his or his side whore's face.

Talking to a person today that wondered if Mitch may suffer a worse fate because of the way he handled this
