How big is the lee statue?
I don't know about size. But even trying to get it out is gonna be a logistical nightmare. Compared to what that's gonna be, tonight should've been a snap.

The only plan they had was to get a crane, some straps, and pull some cops and firemen off of work. Nothing was planned. You can tell they have absolutely no idea what is going on, or what they need to do
I'm surprised they haven't given up yet
Eta: These guys don't even know basic hand signals to tell the crane operator what to do

I'm out...the NOFD appears to have no clue with the straps.

Can't wait to see the fireman begging for money before and after the saints games by their house downtown. I'll tell them to gft and ask uncle mitch for his pocket change.

They basically just wasted 5 hours.

Again, this was a demo job requiring Competent personnel.
OSHA really needs to step up and get involved here.

Pan African flag flown by a guy who likely has never set foot anywhere outside of the U.S.
That flag is so fricking pointless and stupid that it's an insult to any person living in any country in Africa.

Can't they get David Copperfield?? I'm pretty sure he moved the Statue of Liberty with no problem.

Lee off his pedistal compared to an average man...

Absolutely. So many violations, a normal company would've been shut down hours ago

And they're arresting people for public drunkenness and trying to light a flag on fire. Nice.

Size of the statue isn't the issue, it's the location, height, and surrounding cables.
That fricker is up there.

Landrieu has reportedly been spotted coming down City Park Ave. in a tank with a rainbow flag on it moving at a high rate of speed.

Tonight's removal has been the exemplar of Mitch Landrieu's performance as mayor - complete idiotic clusterfrick of epic proportions.

And the fines would break the budget of this whole boondoggle.

Ok, maybe size is also an issue.
Someone tell the workers they have to hook up to the statue BEFORE they lift the crane.

I'm definitely going to take some selfies with the statues this weekend if still erect.
