Simple enough. If you don't agree, just boycott NOLA.

Masked people wearing full military gear ripping down statues under the cover of night via the orders of a local despot in a major US city isn't creepy at all.

Both sides, great-grandpa went to sleep in Virginia one night as a 4 year-old in 1863 and woke up and the farm was then part of W. Va.

While you are technically correct, his point stands.

Germany has maintained Bergen-Belsen, Dachau and Sachsenhausen (Where the infamous "Hard Work Makes You Free" gate sign is located) as memorials and available for tours.

Has Mitch said what he plans to put in these locations once the statues are removed and where he plans to get the money for that?

Well, it doesn't make sense to compare Nazi Germany to anything involving the US Civil War in the first place.

I don't think those sites compare to a monument of a man though. It's really just a poor argument to make if you're in favor of keeping the statues up. Germany keeps those as a reminder of the past and they use it as an educational tool.

There's an argument to be made on both sides for what monuments of confederate generals in the US represents and whether or not they should've been built in the first place. You can't really make an argument against keeping those concentration camps preserved as an educational tool and a reminder of the horribleness of the Nazis in the same way.

City Park isn't even technically owned by the city. But the board is refusing to get in the middle of this because the issue is so toxic.
