Pet licenses

Just got a bill in the mail from the Forsyth County Animal Shelter here in NC requiring me to pay $25 for a pet license. This is new and the letter says it's supposed to help with animal population.
I think it's bullshite. Any of you required to pay this fee? Ive got to pay the local govt now to own a house dog? He's an awesome little beagle though.

Don't melt over $25. You spend thousands on the animal anyways.

I guess they know from his rabies registration. Its not the money that bothers me, it's the principle.

This is stupid and none of the governments business.
I agree, it isn't about the money. I'd rather set it on fire. (The money, not the dog)

My town does the same thing. Just another tax to support the local animal shelter. It's irritating but not so irritating that I won't have a dog.

not as a stand alone charge, but I'm confident the vac. fees/ rabies tag include some sort of tithe to the local shelter
I sure wouldn't sweat the $25.00. small change going to a good cause. that said, I would be pissed about yet another "tax".
