Lava Cantina’s rice tasted exactly like Uncle Bens microwaveable rice. So much so that I’m not sure that they used that, or at least some microwave version. Inexcusable. The rest of the food was ok but expensive for what it was.

Their price point was way to high for Mexican food.

Why is this word necessary nowadays?
I'm curious to hear that answer as well.
Can't see how a lot of those places in P-Rowe could stay in business, even before Covid.

Lava changed chefs early on, but originally their queso was melted Velveeta. I’m not against Velveeta, but I feel like making scratch queso in a Mexican place is the least you can do.

Thanks for clarifying this

Weren’t all those places in PR chains of some sort? Find an original concept, simplify menu, master your culinary craft and profit. BR has a tough time following these simple concepts.

It's ok BBQ for Texas. In Louisiana, it would be at the very top.

If you put out a good product --- and it's consistent and your pricing is fair, people will come to your location.

Lava Cantina
Went there quite a bit, but was it a restaurant or live music venue?
Posted on 6/19/20 at 11:35 am to Adam4848
And someone is paying 1350 a month to live in the 500 square foot apartments above those empty buildings

Worked with one of the original owners of Lava Cantina here at a chemical plant until he retired. Their price point was way to high for Mexican food.
I’ve never been there, but I had a shitty plate of food at la Carrettas last week that cost like $13-14. It was bad, I would consider it the floor in quality of a restaurant that can actually stay open.
