Absolutely. The police need to be out there in the high crime areas actively searching for violent criminals. They also must spend an equal amount of time in the low crime, affluent neighbors policing it the same way so they don’t look like they are singling any certain demographic out.

The same thing happened in Ferguson, St. Louis and Chicago and was dubbed “the Ferguson Effect” by several people.
Politicians and community leaders decry the over-policing of and arrest rates in high crime areas as inherently racist and demand it be stopped. Police pull out and stop patrolling the areas, they become engulfed in violence and crime, and politicians and community leaders deride law enforcement as racist for not heavily policing these areas.

Shocking that their strategy of removing police officers from the streets didn't work out.
