It's only getting worse. This latest instance will only further people curating their social media experience to things that they agree with.

As if people didn't already want their feelings validated 24/7, this has ramped that up even more.

People are only going to keep wanting to exist strictly inside their bubble, and will be silencing and shutting out anyone or anything that challenges their world view.

Well said.

The echo chamber mentality makes people feel infallible.

60-70% of your friends drop hard Rs?

You went to episcopal and ole miss. Safe to say 90% of your friends group, even in a joking way, has used some racial jokes or innuendo

It’s ok, everyone does it, in all races..... I know this is woke week and all but the absolutely full of shite social emotion is getting to me. It’s like Kobe’s death x10000

Oh, so now that's where we're moving the goal posts? Should I tell that to the other half of my Facebook that keeps posting anti-protester stuff as well? Tell them to stop being weird, shut up about it, and vote?

I never set goal posts in the first place.

You should realize that there are tons of people with our own opinions. Mine has not changed since the beginning.

Definitely not full of shite because he said last 5 years. As adults, I have not heard 60-70% of my friends use racial slurs. Much less 60-70% of the people posting black squares on Instagram.

Kids are stupid yeah.

Maybe it’s because I live in Nashville now and have different friends, but I rarely ever hear racial slurs.

Can’t remember the last time I heard someone say f****t in person either. We’ve grown up I guess.

ETA:

And I think the black square thing is stupid AF virtue signaling FWIW. Even though a TON of my friends are doing it.

I may go pick up a “ Black is beautiful” beer from Nola Brewery and buy a bag of pride month skittles so I can feel better about the person I am.

I do realize that. I personally have mixed opinions on the whole situation. But acting like 'normal' people don't say anything about politics and simply go out and vote about it is silly. That's the exception these days, not the rule.

A decent amount. Not surprising. I’m friends with two brothers that are so old money the paper clips were rusty 100 years ago. They’re always posting Trump hit pieces and what not... Good people, but they’ll be preaching all kinds of shite on Facebook, and then boom. Who you think is the first to start dropping hard R’s after a couple old fashioned’s when we’re all standing around the grill after the Labor Day dove hunt?

Weird times in America these days.

The people doing this bullshite virtue signaling aren’t my liberal friends. They’re actually out protesting and volunteering. It’s my centrist upper middle class friends that are. They’re vapid in everything they do.

Ha! I have seen that on mine. Maybe it's just me, but I find that slightly degrading.

The black pictures are now everywhere on my feed. That's all there is. I thought my phone was being slow for a second.

I have a lot of snarky comments and things I could say on FB. I don’t want that trouble though.

Most normal people with responsibilities just avoid the hassle and ignore these issues on a public forum like FB.

fathers aren't doing a good job raising their daughters. They are either whores or white guilt liberals crying over something they have no clue about.

What if some people are just showing a little solidarity and nothing more? Most people don't have tons of followers nor a history of virtue signaling. Sometimes it's just a virtual nod that says "I feel you man"

Then go for it, I'm not going to say anything to you.

I don't think it is doing anything BAD really. I just think it's a hollow gesture.

But it's peaceful and other people can do what they want if it doesn't hurt others.
