I back in, and I drive a sedan. It is easier and safer. When everybody is tired and rushing out of the office, I don't have to stick my trunk out there with no visibility hoping it doesn't get hit.
There is a reason it is SOP in the military.
And backing in doesn't really take any longer. Don't drive like a jackass and try to go around people while they are parking you moron.

However, if you are driving a damn SUV, sedan, or pickup, and are trying to back into a spot in a parking lot with, at minimum, 50 available parking spots (the majority of which have no vehicles next to them) and thereby block other vehicles seeking to go around you to merely pull into a nearby spot, then you are just the most self-centered, near-sighted, and nonsensical jackass on the face of the planet.
why don't you come and tell me this next time you see me backing in.....I'll buy you a beer

Perhaps the better question is why so many choose to drive such massive vehicles where they feel the need to back into every parking space.

I park at the far edge of the parking lot in whatever arrangement I want.
If in a parking garage, I back in. Approach angle is better on the front, that way I can drive over your shitty economy car if something occurs.

- I can see over everyone
- People don't cut me off or pull out in front of me
- I can push my way into lanes because I'm bigger
- I'm the bigger vehicle when there is an accident so I'm safer

Agree it is annoying when people block traffic doing this. However I also chuckle when I pull around them, park, get out, and am half way to wherever I'm going while they waste time trying to get situated backwards.

I think there are only two questions here
1. Why are you such a pussy that you can't get out of your car and let the person know how you feel about it instead of running to your keyboard to cry about it?
2. Did that extra 5 seconds of waiting make your tampon leak?

So the OP decides to put people that back into parking spots on blast and calls them self-centered, near-sighted and nonsensical without realizing the reason he's pissed is because he's totally being self-centered, near-sighted and nonsensical himself in thinking anyone should give a frick if he has to wait a few seconds to get past the backing up driver. What a fricking moron.

I back in no matter what I'm driving, my full size truck down to my fiance's little civic or BMW. Doesn't matter.

I back my truck in virtually every time I park. You can wait the ten seconds it takes for me to do that - no?
