Doesn’t that mean they aren’t on your same life schedule?

Maybe not exact schedule, but these people still have middle/high school aged kids. Pretty sure I’ll still value time with my family over work.

Prioritizing family over work isn’t mediocrity. I’d also love to poll these frickers while on their death bed to see if it was truly worth it.

I don't hate my job/career at all, but I'm 25 years in, and I think pretty much any job gets old after enough time. It would for me at least.

There needs to be a balance. Some people want to get ahead and have more, that may mean working extra and actually caring about their job. If they spend quality time with their family when they have free time it probably works out.

Usually the same people that complain about working extra hours and how it is keeping them away from their families, are the same people that are stuck to their phones all evening while junior is playing video games 5 hours every day.

People are stupid. Find me someone that says “I wish I would have worked more” on their deathbed

I'm a grinder and a ladder climber. I'm always going to want to do more and accomplish more.

My father ingrained it into my psyche that anything less is a loser. I can't shake it.

I'm sorry it bothers you. It bothers me too that I can't settle like you.

Good points but for a lot of people hours worked doesn’t equate to making more money.

I’ve always loved my profession and have never dreaded going to “work,” now that I’m on the back end of my career I’ve got a great retirement gig with my company and honestly, with no egotistic delusions, I’ve got a lot to pass on to the whippersnappers coming up and I love sharing it with them

I bet there are a ton of people who are glad they made the sacrifices they did

vacation homes, boats, (actual) nice vacations, flush college funds, inheritances, etc. *rarely* follow a 40 hours a week normie career

This X 1000. It's work ethic, something that is sorely lacking these days. It's a good thing that the inventors in the early days of our country had it or we would still be riding horses and living in homes without A/C.

I’ve been in hospital middle management since 2019. I got burnt out on people expecting me to cover all their shifts for them every time they wanted to to do something. My subordinates only work 12-14 shifts per month, they need to do a better job of planning their vacations around that instead of deliberately booking beach trips and cruises during their work rotations.

A lot of 100 hour weeks for 5 years, but I rarely work more than 20 these days.
