still find it surprising that these services are so popular. Get old food and pay a 50-100% markup so you don't have to go get it yourself

There’s a service here in the UAE called Talabat. They own a fleet of motorcycles with little delivery boxes on the back. It’s unbelievable and worth the $2 flat delivery fee they charge. You can get almost any cuisine from across the world delivered in 30 minutes or less, same price as in the restaurant. I had Korean Friday night and Egyptian last night. It’s everything Doordash should be. They’re like a little orange motorcycle army whizzing around town.

I tried to order a $10.99 pizza from Pizza Hut the other day. After all the minimum charges, fees, etc…it ended up being a $32 pizza to get delivered.

Went and picked up instead. Could I afford it, yes. Wouldn’t have put a dent in my net worth, but I didn’t get rich by practicing poor decisions.

Even if it’s a work order, I’ll get one of the younger, day shift boys to go pick it up for us.

Imagine wasting breath on a message board complaining about people using a food delivery service?

I work at a plant and I’m not allowed to leave. Also there aren’t a ton of options in the area I’m in.

I was lazy until about 2 months ago. One night, my food, ordered through WAITR was delivered to someone else. The next night, I ordered the same meal and picked it up myself. The price difference was $17!

Lesson learned. I may be lazy sometimes, but I will never again be THAT lazy. While I understand the WAITR order being somewhat higher, $17 is ridiculous.

I work in an office at least sometimes and I bring my lunch almost every day. I eat out a little less than once per week.

I once Doordashed a diet coke from Mcdonalds to an apartment complex in the same town center just down the street.

They must have paid like $8 for it and I thought well maybe they have kids and couldnt leave.

Meal in person was $48. WAITR, before tipping the driver, was $65.

So fast food delivery was only okay when it was pizza or Chinese food?

If your relationship with food is so messed up that you can’t imagine having the occasional Big Mac, then you might be the one with the food related problems.

I might eat fast food once per month but sometimes you just want to crush a double Whataburger with cheese. Calories be damned

I ate a burger last night. Point being I’m not going to waste a cheat meal on a bic mac. I’m going get an actual burger at restaurant that will be the same price as a door dashed fast food burger
