All in all you’re just another brick in the wall

Trying is a waste of time for tons of people.
Problem is, trying is the only way to figure out whether you’re one of them or not.

No, I’m working on a corporate case study. That’s involving itself just in general with what I see as negative corporate culture. A culture that prides itself on being middle of the pack. That’s ok I guess. That’s the specialty. It allows specific unique niches to develop. But when you talk with people and you discover that potentially $$$$$$ is just being wasted because “corporate culture” and someone take you to the side to explain how things are never going to change and just don’t give a shite. That fills me with rage
Someone took. me aside last night and explained how miserable they were and trying to do anything will just make you more miserable because you’ll never achieve it.
Like that’s the antithesis of who I am. I’m ok with failing or looking bad as long as it serves a purpose.

You must be very young. At some point you will realize that you are only serving someone else's purpose in most anything you do. It's at that point, you will decide whether to accept their definition of you being 'mediocre', or your own definition of contempment.

Who's purpose?
we're all just cogs in the machine. Our work for the most part is meaningless and we all can be replaced.
There's only one person I have to impress, and that's myself.
One person has very little influence on corporate culture.

Not really young. And I don’t think I’m naive. I’m all about looking out for myself. Doing well on a case study is looking out for myself.
But i fully reject the idea that you shouldn’t do something just because that’s what you’ve done in the past or are lazy.

It’s so easy to improve though. People really have little idea how easy it is to save $$$. These are easy problems and easy solutions. People are just to burned out to commit to it.

Perfectionism is worse
should probably be dialed up to about 3/4ths of the way there

The same people are the ones who have a huge amount of regret later in life.
The words "I wish I" are very common among them.

At age 51 I have come to the realization that I am ok with being mediocre. There is a lot of peace to be found in that realization.

Corporate culture is pretty toxic to begin with.
If you try to be helpful and aggressive, you're just advancing someone elses career.
Most folks find their niche, keep their stuff to themselves, collect a paycheck and move on. Years of working in stifling environments program them to do so.

Bingo. It's liberating.

It's why most people never get started. I've run into this so damn much. Finally gave up on perfection and have been able to get so much more done.

There is nothing new, under the sun. Nothing. You will discover at some point that doing 'something', is just a bit part in someone else's scheme on how to enrich their own life.
When you decide to live your life singularly for yourself, you will realize that you wasted a ton of hours cramming, studying, meeting artificial deadlines, etc. Your keys to happiness will involve almost none of those type of activities.

Things must be so boring for people who fall into that mindset
Or maybe things are exactly how they always wanted them to be or even better?

I thought this would be about tribal culture and the continents south of the Equator where eternal mediocrity was the norm.
