Killing someone who coughs on you is not placing you in imminent danger.
How is it not imminent danger? If you are old and/or compromised, and someone claiming to have Covid-19 is coming after you and purposefully coughing, that seems pretty imminent.
I will text a lawyer and see if I can get an answer.

Better text a shitty one because a good one is going to throw his phone in the furnace after being texted “can I shoot someone coughing on me if they have coronavirus?”

I see your point and agree there is an enhanced risk of death for someone in that age demographic and the argument for great bodily harm or death. The issue as I see it is how you define imminent danger. I just don’t see the similarities between someone coming at you with a knife where death is probable as opposed to someone coughing on you where death is possible weeks down the road.
Would be interested to see if there is any case law from previous pandemics that would set precedent.

i think the argument can be made them coughing on you was the equivalent of using a weapon in the category of a knife against you
dont see how shooting would be a defense unless you were pinned down and had no way to separate. remember, a jury of idiots will decide if you go to jail or not
hell a guy is in jail now for shooting the 3 armed robbers who tried to rob his store. frickin DA wont even allow the guy out on bail

Given the fact that people like the hypothetical in question are being charged with terrorism, I think most juries would refuse to convict. And they honestly need to be removed from the gene pool if that is their form of entertainment.

I decided to call instead. They said in Louisiana, you can absolutely shoot them. If you fear death or grave bodily harm, you have the right to defend yourself. I'm sorry if that upsets your world view.

Your argument is that because the death would take two weeks, it isn't imminent?
Knowingly infecting someone with HIV was a felony when HIV was a death sentence. Some states are rolling back those laws now.
Drinking antifreeze doesn't kill you instantly, but it will kill you. If someone was trying to force antifreeze down my throat, I would have no problem shooting them.
