I had it. I wear my mask into businesses and such because it’s required. Otherwise I wouldn’t.

There’s no evidence you can be reinfected.

so what makes you say that if it did happen, it would be mild?

T cells

Adaptive immunity.

Same reason the homeless just brush COVID off.

I’m not saying it would be worse or better. I’m just saying there is no evidence one way or the other.

The mask is to protect you - not him.

There are theories floating around that T cell memory from previous coronaviruses (the common cold) can cross recognize SARS-CoV-2 which may be what is driving such mild reactions from a huge portion of people.

So T cells from Covid would probably do a great job of making any possible reinfection incredibly mild.

Yes and there is nothing that says you are immune to getting it again and no proof that he doesn't carry it and can spread, so if he chooses to wear a mask why does it bother you?

Plus he doesn't want to have to explain himself to Karens.

I’ll take your word for it, my education is in finance, not medicine.

This whole thing is a giant pain in the arse, either way.

The reason I care is it does affect me. The more people go along with stupid fear mongering, the more stupid shite we have to put up with.

People like you don’t get it. It’s a virus that we don’t fully and completely understand. We understand the flu, a cold, etc. We know how to treat it and what it’s capable of. We don’t know what Covid is capable of at the moment. Right now, we only know that it really severely affects people older with underlying health conditions. What if it mutates and then can wreck havoc on everyone? There’s a lot of what ifs and unknowns. It’s up to you if you want to wear a mask or not, but to let something as minute as another person wearing a mask affect you makes you sound like an insufferable douche.

It is a "cold" virus.

I wouldn't suggest taking my word for anything about most topics, but it's not hard to find several published sources about a ton of this stuff. A lot of them are very interesting.

You may be a jerk for judgment on someone for not wearing/wearing a mask but the real assholes are those that FORCE people to wear one. Where I live it's the law in public and a business can get fined for serving you.

Covid-19 has probably already mutated.

Do you have evidence that you can not get it again?

Yes. 1) Millions have been afflicted with COVID and not a single reccurance.

2) We beg those healed to donate plasma so that their antibodies can help heal others. These same antibodies will prevent recurrence.

3) Implicitly, the fact that the medical community believes a vaccine will be effective means that they can create an immune response (e.g. antibodies) that will prevent infection. Thus, if you have antibodies from a prior infection, they will prevent reinfection.

4) Last, the positive tests that have shown up later have been attributed to viral shedding. None of these people exhibited symptoms, infected others, nor have the labs been able to extract live virus samples from their blood.

Now, your turn.... Can you provide ANY evidence that a person can actually get it again?

ETA: There is some legitimate thinking that you could get it again years from now. But, not months later as the media seems to scare us with.

Not true. I know someone who contracted COVID three times. He is currently part of a broad research project.

I think that would be national news.
