Super fricked up.
FYI if you pick up a turtle in the middle of the road he/she will pee on you as a defense mechanism.

Squirrels don't take fall damage. There isn't a high enough drop that can seriously injure or kill them (assuming it is a straight drop and they don't hit something on the way down and start cartwheeling). They're better than cats in that regard.
It's because they are so light. Not enough mass to create the energy necessary to injure them when they hit the ground.

Agreed. I have expertisely tried to avoid hitting a squirrel, only to fail. Felt bad. But to the person driving behind me, it probably looked like I was an expert squirrel killing super driver.
I have picked up turtles to get them out of the road and the damn things always release water or piss out of the shell when I pick them up! Even my tire changing leather gloves aren’t enough since the piss or whatever goes down to elbows or clothes….

Sometimes in life you just have to smell like turtle piss

I can go along with this except for snakes
Was coming to post something about people being okay with it when it comes to snakes though.
Which is equally as fricked up as going out of your way to kill any other animal.

Or current.
There's a special place in hell for people that mistreat children and animals.

That’s so fricked up. I’d donate to your defense if you have lit maneuvered him off the road.
There’s a family of Guinea hens in my neighborhood and the day someone hits one they better hope there aren’t any witnesses because someone might hunt them down for it.

frick snakes. I’m def not swerving to miss one
A snake that is crossing the road while you are in a car going 55 mph in the other direction poses absolutely no threat to you, or anyone really. Just because someone's irrational fear allows their mind to rationalize slaughtering an animal for no reason doesn't mean it's different than intentionally running over a turtle, squirrel, otter, etc.
But you are correct in that you shouldn't swerve to miss any animal if you going a considerable speed.

Back in the day when I was driving with the drivers Ed instructor I slowed down in the neighborhood because a squirrel ran in front of me and he got mad and said I was supposed to just run it over. I didn’t and stopped until it got out of the road but he wasn’t happy about it
I still don’t like that guy even though that was like 15 years ago
Granted it sucks to hear you are supposed to not stop, but he was/is right from a legal perspective. If a car hits you from behind and you hard braking for a squirrel like that comes out you could be to blame. Ie. If you swerve out of the lane because of a dog, yes even a child, and you hit another car you are to blame and the "dog in the street" reason ain't going to help you.
Again, yes it sucks to hear you have to make that kind of decision, but your instructor was doing his job by telling you what you did wrong.

Yep, and they can't reach terminal velocity. They're also great at spreading out their bodies to create drag which slows them down.
