There were definitely people saying they were with the sheriffs office telling people to get out. They came to their house. They followed up with the sheriff and were told that was not true.

I can confirm this as well.

at the end of the day, if they want to exchange toilet paper for a 6 pack, go do that brah, but at the end of the day its on you to find something to wipe your arse with.

In regards to taking stuff that you don't need, what do you think is the bigger draw?

A set of clothes? Or a set of clothes that you can return for $25?

I still want to know how a person working at a shelter would know that this was happening?

Are the items marked somehow?

You're assuming that person actually needs toilet paper. What if he doesn't, and someone who actually does need toilet paper just got fricked over by someone who just wants to pound some brews?

Perhaps people from the shelter were at wal-mart getting more supplies and saw people who were just at the shelter at customer service returning stuff they had just given out to them?

Just got back from helping out at Lamar Dixon. They have more donated clothes than imaginable. Spent 3 hours sorting through baby clothes alone. Then they started packing stuff up to send to other shelters since most at LD had what they needed.
There is so much stuff there that I doubt that this "story" is a problem.

There is a 10 Ft high mountain of unsorted garbage bags of donations in the middle of the building. When you finish one bag they chunk you another.

I would imagine a walmart in the area with a sudden spike in people returning diapers, pillows, blankets, and other items usually donated would arrouse some suspicion

Like if the diaper section was to wiped out then later that same day, 15 people are in line for returns all holding diapers.

Walmart doesn't give cash back for stuff.

This is inaccurate, if the item returned is less than $25.00, Walmart will give cash back. Returns without a receipt are allowed, however an ID must be presented, and each ID is allowed 4 returns per 12 month period without a receipt.

Over a 12 month period, clearly that would only be $100 cash, but if someone is not paying for it to begin with, that's still $25 quick bucks for TPOS (any race or nationality FYI)

Just clarifying that Walmart doesn't necessarily "not give cash back for returns"

(Source: close friends with a Walmart CSM in Dallas, she told me this in the past, people literally will go pick up something off of the shelf and try to return it, and then get caught for being dumbasses, and caught on camera)

We saw the same thing in Bastrop La in the weeks following Katrina. There was place across the street from WalMart giving away stuff that had been donated and taking it to WalMart and getting money for it.
I reported their sorry asses.
