My husband remembers two high school girls on the streetcar in NOLA who said they weren't going to eat their lunches because children were starving in Africa.

They got older, not wiser.

Really irrefutable arguments the OP is making in this thread.

Wait until they hear some people are homeless and have no vehicles.

It’s amazing that people don’t realize that once this happens, you’re going to have to pay to charge just like gas

You already have to pay to charge, what are you talking about?

Yea 5-10 minutes is absurd. It takes me about 60 seconds to fill up.
Literally zero chance it takes you 60 seconds.

You're only counting the actual time it takes from when you press the nozzle until it's full, which is a pretty silly way to do it.

So like I said, what will you do with those whopping number of minutes you save per year?

Whatever I want with the hours saved per year compared to those who have to get gas weekly.

Think you mean it's easy to tell who has owned both horse and car vs only ever owning horses.

Imagine having a world view that categorizes every person's transaction into a box of politics.

Was it really that long ago that people could critically judge something on its merits instead of what the talking heads say?

You don't know anything about EV's and charging stations

He says he hits the Tesla superchargers and thats what it tkes. I guess you know better aboot his charging habits than him.

How do you know this?

Because he told me so, one time when he was borrowing money. I told him I would help him set up a savings plan, and help him invest it. He cut me off, said "I am not good at that shite", and continued to piss every cent awauy.

Now, Why are you being such a combative frickhole aboot this?

I can say unequivocally if he takes 40 minutes to charge he's doing it wrong...if the goal is to charge as quickly/efficiently as possible.

I've never once taken 40 minutes to charge, so I cannot come up with any reason why he'd take that long to charge.

totaled cars already contribute plenty of batteries,

and counter the narrative they are not ECONOMICLY recyclable.

the shreaded batteries are sent "out of the us" for recycling

just like all electronics have been. And for the record, 3 of 4 of my dewalt li ion batteries have died, in well under 6 months...15 years for a car battery...sure
and interstate can not repair, or recycle them

Many of the totaled ones have breeched BESS units. Also, not a significant enough volume to make anything economical.

Not yet, but once again, there is no need for it at any significant scale for decades.

Comparing the BESS unit is an EV to your power tools. Simply astonishing.

Need way more information. How hard do you work them? How many charge cycles? For the record, I have several dewalt packs several years old and none show signs of slowing down much less dying.

Lots of 15 year old Tesla Roadster batteries still on the road. Battery tech has improved since.

Most people buying EVs just don't want to go to the gas pump.

Most EV buyers get them to be able zip around slow laggy ICE vehicles.

Apparently, some dudes can be in and out of the gas station in under 60 seconds and I guess have great experiences every time they pull into a gas station.

But yea, never having to go to a gas station and/or deal with the types of folks you have to deal with at a gas station is great, the 2nd part of that being an underrated item on the "pro" list for EVs.

Most people I know with EVs certainly don't say shite about saving the earth. Here's what I do know.

We have a shite ton of Indians here. They love EVs because they were able to manipulate the system and get tax breaks. Back when the Nissan Leaf was new, they were getting them for free when they turned in clunkers. Remember that gem? They upgraded to Teslas, I bet there were 30 of them in carpool today.

Right or wrong, they love not buying gas. They perhaps haven't always had to pay for charging their vehicle, or they perceive a savings.

They think the cars are really cool and high tech. Can you get so and so from my car? Here, I'll have it pull forward 2 feet so you can see it. From my desk.

They are fast. Some people just like trying new things. If these were hybrids or hydrogen fueled cars, they'd still buy them.

Now, to contrast that... the car that I know most people own that speak out on climate type shiat... is the Prius... that requires gas.
