How hard is it to know which side of the road to walk/run on?

If it's a bike path, sidewalk, etc, you stay to the right. If it's a road with 2-way vehicle traffic and there is no shoulder or sidewalk (90% of the road around LSU Lakes), then you run/walk on the LEFT side of the damn road. This is so that the cars you are sharing your side of the road with are coming at you from the front and not from behind, keeping you from getting your dumbass hit by a car. You can also pass other runners more easily because you can see that the roadway straight in front of you is clear and not have to turn around to try to look over your shoulder.

FFS, it's not that goddamn difficult. And don't expect me to move out of your way if you're on the wrong side of the road. I will win that battle, I assure you.

Also, just because you have a gaggle of 3-4 runners and you want to jog side by side and talk at the same time, that doesn't mean that you own more than 50% of the real estate on the sidewalk. Your asses had better be ducks in a row if that's what it takes to stay on your half. Again, I'm not moving.

I wish the area by Gate E at the Superdome had these walking rules, that is the worst place for movement ever.

You must be one of the dolts that acts like your pickup truck owns the road. GFY.

This. Some times you'll be moving north and some times you'll be moving south so it's not always the same.

You're such a strong man for expressing your feelings on a sports Internet forum. I'd say you should say something to the runners but they'd probably whip your pussy arse.

Will you please give that same fireside chat to the cyclists of northern California?

SMD, then read. LINK

quote:

Rules of the road and trails
Run against traffic if running on the road. If running on the sidewalk or multi-use trails, travel on the right and pass on the left.
Never run more than two abreast if you are running in a group. Don’t be a road or trail hog.
Don’t run down the middle of the road or trail.
If you are running an out-and-back route, don’t just make a sudden u-turn at your turn around point. Stop, step to the right to allow oncoming traffic the opportunity to pass. Ensure the road or trail is clear of oncoming traffic (runners, cyclists, in-line skaters, etc.) then make your u-turn. Making a sudden u-turn without looking over your shoulder is a good way to get hit.
Alert pedestrians when you are passing them – don’t assume they are aware of their surroundings. A simple “on your left” warning will suffice.
Be alert on blind curves.
Stop at stop signs and ensure oncoming traffic yields to you before proceeding across a road. Don’t assume cars will stop if you are entering a cross walk.
Respect private property along your route. Don’t relieve yourself in the neighbor’s bushes.
Don’t litter. If you can’t find a trash can, carry your trash home.

Go drive through the hood and then you'll appreciate people walking on EITHER side of the road instead of down the damned middle of the street.
