Cloverleafs are fine on rural interstates

But flyovers are needed bigly 12/55, 10/49 and 12/airline

Also need a flyover from 12 east to 59 north

If the merging traffic is going the proper speed for the interstate then you are required to either speed up or slow down to create a gap for them if they are traveling the same speed as you. If you just sit on cruise control in the right lane without letting traffic merge then you’re the dickhead.

Yep I always slow down a bit so they can get ahead of me unless it makes more sense to speed up and they merge behind me.

Thank you. Exactly how it should be done.

I'm not talking about merging when you're actually merging onto the interstate, I'm talking about when you're at the intersection at the light.

Interstates dont have intersection stop lights

Dude, you can't wait until the last minute. I plan my merges the night before.

Here's a question for the thread, kind of a pet peeve of mine. In situations like in the provided pic, I hate when the cars in the blue line position leave their right blinker on when they are at the merge point. I argue that it should be switched to the LEFT blinker, as that is what the red liners will see from their perspective...a car wanting to merge from right to left. Agreed?

Yep. People who can't understand this are why I've quit getting on the at Perkins (overpass). I was getting stuck twice a week behind someone who went 20 the entire way up the ramp.

Then it's a toss up whether they're going to be the dumbass that realizes they can't merge that slow and sits there stopped waiting, or whether they're going to just slowly keep going while everyone already on the interstate is making moves to not hit them.

What pisses me off is people trying to merge during rush hours onto the busy interstate doing 50 while the traffic is going 70.

Guess what happens.

Yep. It’s the reason for 90% of the traffic from Denham Springs to Baton Rouge every morning.

I can't take palmetto, in the middle lane to turn right on the second lane on the right to get on i10 west. Every m'fer in the far right lane thinks the first two are for them despite the arrows indicating what lane to stay in.

The fact of the matter is that no one actually DRIVES anymore. The term "drive" implies intention. A damned monkey can hit the gas to go, the brake to stop, and turn the wheel left and right. That doesn't mean he's driving though. And such are many folks behind the wheel on the road today.

Always a fun game on RV trips. If I can get over to let them merge, I will. If not, tough shite, learn to merge. Best I can do for them is maintain speed and hope their reptile brains can figure it out.

If I can manage to merge 40 foot of passion wagon onto I-10 they should have no problem in their shite box Corolla.

I used to try slowing down or speeding up to let folks merge, or get into the left lane if traffic was light. After towing for tens of thousands of miles around the country...frick them. They can figure it out.

All of these issues are why I drive in the left lane while on the interstate.
