We put “adult reception following ceremony” in really fine print at the bottom of the invite

Ours was in the $300-350 range with everything included, except alcohol which we got for free. Our food was lower than your range, but we had an outside caterer.

I was inventing numbers based on packages I was familiar with. Maybe it's high, but based on some of those bigger numbers I don't think it's THAT crazy. I just looked at an outside caterer we might have used and it looks like it's about 70/pp before alcohol. Like you said I assume outsider caterers are less expensive.

By everything I assume that doesn't include flowers and lighting and whatnot? If so, that's up there, more than we paid for sure.

Ours was about $80 and it was wonderful. Another venue we looked at wanted $150ish. It was absurd.

I don't know all the details, but it was easily over $100k and we had about 300 people there. So I just divided that out to be about $330 a person for everything.

Did the Pops shell that out?

Where did you go for your honeymoon, if $100K was dropped on the party. Just curious.

There will always be someone upset about not being invited. Just went thru this. But anyone that has been married knows there will be people let off. , it doesn’t mean you dislike those people. The hardest is not inviting people who’s wedding you were invited to, but if you want to keep it small then that happens

Makes sense.

We quickly found out that our idea of a smallish but nice wedding didn't really work like we planned. A lot of nice venues have high minimums and so many costs aren't really # of attendee dependent. We were less than half the size of yours but unfortunately it doesn't halve the cost because of those things.

In laws do well for themselves and he had a lot of business partners there too.

It was like $20k when we planned it

We went to St Lucia at a trashy all inclusive but we loved it.
